“Voice of IRONMAN” and Perennial Crowd Favorite Mike Reilly to Keynote TRI-MANIA Summit & Expo
Legendary Endurance-Sports Announcer Tops Packed Speaker Bill; “You Make the Call Contest” Brings New Meaning to “Be Like Mike”
Boston, Mass. – February 8, 2016 – Sun Multisport Events today announced endurance-sports legend and Ironman Hall of Fame member Mike Reilly will be the keynote speaker at its 13th annual TRI-MANIA Summit and Expo – “the epicenter of all things triathlon” – being held on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at Boston University’s Fit Rec Center. TRI-MANIA, developed in partnership with the USAT Northeast Regional Council, is the Northeast’s premier gathering dedicated to educating, equipping and inspiring triathletes and kicking off the new multi-sport season.
Mike Reilly, EVP of Global Sales at Events.com, is best known as the “Voice of Ironman” and is one of the biggest names in endurance sports. A veteran on-site and television race announcer, he has manned the microphone for more than 1,500 endurance events, including 27 IRONMAN World Championship events in Kona, Hawaii and 149 IRONMAN races around the world. On March 5th at Ironman New Zealand, Reilly will reach a noteworthy milestone, calling his 150th IRONMAN race! More than 350,000 triathletes worldwide have been inspired to take on the grueling IRONMAN 140.6 mile swim, bike and run event to hear his trademark finish-line declaration, “You Are An IRONMAN!”
Reilly, who began participating in endurance sports in the 1970s, first as a marathoner then as a triathlete, has held a unique perch from which to witness and call some of triathlon’s most memorable moments and unforgettable performances. His keynote at TRI-MANIA, “Finding Your Finish Line – Your Best Memories Are in Front of You,” will be packed with epic tales, inspirational stories and how-to advice for balancing life with training for multi-sport athletes of all abilities.
Reilly’s keynote is part of a star-powered seminar line-up that also features presentations from legendary endurance-sports coach and author of the best-selling Training Bible books for triathletes, Joe Friel, and famed swim coach, swimming-technique trailblazer and Total Immersion founder, Terry Laughlin. In addition to a full slate of seminars, TRI-MANIA offers athletes hands-on clinics and classroom-style workshops, competitive events for individuals and teams – to which Reilly will lend his hallmark announcing skills – and a product-packed vendor expo.
In celebration of Reilly’s participation, this year’s TRI-MANIA event will feature a “You Make the Call Contest,” which invites attendees to summon their best Reilly impersonations as they deliver his iconic “You Are an IRONMAN!” finish-line call. Hosted at the USA Triathlon Northeast booth on the TRI-MANIA expo floor, Reilly himself will be among the judges along with two members of the USAT Northeast Regional Council, and the winner will receive a commemorative award courtesy of Ashworth Awards, Official Awards Sponsor of TRI-MANIA. The contest will be limited to 10 contestants and entry is free. Interested contestants can sign up here.
Registered attendees receive free access to the expo and seminars, earn exclusive discounts on TRI-MANIA clinics and workshops, and gain a chance to win valuable giveaways including the Grand Prize, a 4-day 2017 RaceQuest Travel Triathlon Training Camp in Costa Rica valued at $2,875.
TRI-MANIA is produced by the award-winning team at Sun Multisport Events. In addition to TRI-MANIA, Sun Multisport produces a series of endurance events throughout New England ranging from sprint to half-distance triathlons and running events.
