Mirinda Carfrae and Timothy O’Donnell to keynote 2018 RACE-MANIA Summit and Expo
February 7, 2018 – Boston, MA – Sun Multisport Events announced today that triathlon’s “Fastest Couple”, 3x Ironman World Champion Mirinda Carfrae and Ironman Champion Timothy O’Donnell, will keynote the 2018 RACE-MANIA Summit and Expo at the Boston University Fit Rec Center on Sunday, 3/25/18. Carfrae and O’Donnell, who married in 2013 and became proud parents in 2017, also keynoted RACE-MANIA in 2014.
The RACE-MANIA Summit and Expo is the definitive kick-off to the new season for 2,000+ triathletes, runners, cyclists and swimmers. Designed to educate, equip and inspire, the event features informative and motivational seminars, clinics and workshops; various competitive events; and an expo with 85+ sponsors and exhibitors.
One of triathlon’s most popular athletes and a dominant force in long-course triathlons with more than 20 titles, Carfrae is a three-time IRONMAN World Champion (2010, 2013, 2014) and an IRONMAN 70.3 world champion (2007). Carfrae took a break from racing in 2017 to give birth to her first child, Isabelle (“Izzy”) Grace O’Donnell, but will return to racing in 2018 with an eye on competing at the Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii in October.
O’Donnell is one of the world’s most successful and experienced American long-course professional triathletes. A former ITU Long Distance World Champion (2009), he has earned 50+ podium finishes including over 20 wins at major events throughout the world. Among the wins are nine IRONMAN 70.3 victories, two IRONMAN distance wins, and six Armed Forces National Championships. At the IRONMAN World Championship in Kona, Hawaii, O’Donnell has four top 10 finishes and was the top American in 2013 (5th) & 2015 (3rd). O’Donnell graduated with honors from the U.S. Naval Academy and holds a Masters in Engineering from the University of California-Berkeley.
Attendees of RACE-MANIA will have multiple opportunities to connect with Carfrae and O’Donnell and hear them speak. The couple will be available at 11:00am for a 1 hour “Meet & Greet” at RACE-MANIA with Carfrae at the New England Endurance Events expo booth and O’Donnell at the expo booth of a sponsor to be announced. The couple will then participate in a 1 hour keynote Q&A moderated by endurance sports legend, Dave McGillivray, at 1:15pm. In addition to stories of past wins, losses and lessons learned, the keynote Q&A will include a discussion of Carfrae’s return to racing in 2018 and the couple’s adjustment to balancing life with a baby and the demands of being professional triathletes.
A limited number of attendees will also have the opportunity to sign up for a “VIP Pass” which will include participation in the “Shakeout Run with TO & Rinny” powered by the RunWESTIN concierges. This 3 mile run along the Charles River in Boston will be the morning of RACE-MANIA and guided and supported by run concierges from The Westin Copley Place. A breakfast reception will follow with the opportunity to chat further with Rinny and Tim and fuel up before RACE-MANIA. The VIP Pass will also include priority seating for the keynote Q&A at RACE-MANIA and a souvenir signed by Carfrae and O’Donnell.
