2x Olympic Marathoner and American Record Holder Ryan Hall to Keynote 2017 RACE-MANIA Summit & Expo
Hall to run with attendees and participate in a Q&A moderated by Boston Marathon Race Director and endurance sports legend, Dave McGillivray
Boston, MA – February 1, 2017 – Sun Multisport Events today announced elite runner Ryan Hall, a 2x Team USA Olympic marathoner and owner of the fastest half marathon (59:43) by an American, will keynote the RACE-MANIA Summit & Expo at the Boston University Fit Rec Center in Boston, MA on March 26th. Developed in partnership with USA Triathlon Northeast, RACE-MANIA is designed to educate, equip and inspire endurance athletes on the eve of a new season.
Hall began racing professionally in 2005 and his storied career includes setting the official U.S. Half Marathon record at the 2007 Aramco Houston Half Marathon in Houston, TX (59:43); competing for Team USA in the marathon at the Olympic games in Beijing (2008) and London (2012); and placing in the top four at the Boston Marathon for three straight years (2009-2011) including a personal best (2:04:53) to place third in 2011 which stands as the fastest marathon for an American (not an official record due to Boston’s point-to-point, net-elevation-loss course). Hall retired from competitive running in January 2016, but continues to run most recently completing the 2017 World Marathon Challenge (7 marathons on 7 continents in 7 days) while also coaching his wife, professional runner Sara Hall, caring for his family and managing The Hall Steps Foundation, a non-profit movement to fight global poverty through better health.
At RACE-MANIA, Hall will begin the day by pacing local athletes in a shakeout run sponsored by the Westin Copley Place run concierges. His keynote, “Ryan Hall: Then and Now”, will be a Q&A moderated by Dave McGillivray, Boston Marathon Race Director since 1988, and cover Hall’s career, his inspirations and his future. Hall will also be available for a meet and greet with attendees at the USA Triathlon booth on the RACE-MANIA expo floor.
“We’re very excited to welcome Ryan Hall to RACE-MANIA” says Mark Walter, President of Sun Multisport Events, producers of RACE-MANIA. “With Dave McGillivray as moderator, attendees are sure to be treated to an inspirational and entertaining discussion of Ryan’s past, present and future”.
In addition to Hall’s participation, RACE-MANIA features an extensive line-up of expert-led seminars, clinics and workshops that utilize the Boston University Fit Rec Center’s presentation space, world-class pool and indoor track. RACE-MANIA also offers attendees competitive events, an expo with 80+ exhibitors and a chance to win giveaways worth thousands of dollars including the Grand Prize, a 5-night/4-day RaceQuest Travel Training Camp trip to Costa Rica. The Official Charitable Partner of the 2017 RACE-MANIA Summit & Expo is the American Cancer Society and RACE-MANIA registration is now open.
