PLANT-FUELED PERFORMANCE: CRITICAL DETAILS NO ONE TELLS YOU AND PUTTING YOUR TOOLS TO WORK

There is no shortage of information on plant-based diets or plant-based meal plans and blogs; rather, the issue lies with lack of credible sources of information from experts in the field, and education for high-level athletes on practical application of a plant-based diet to fuel performance. Type “plant-based diet for athletes” into Google and get over 8 million results; the top 3 coming from a vegan documentary (non-athlete related), a vegan runner’s blog (non-dietitian), and an article that covers a ‘day in the life’ of a vegan UFC fighter.  Is this really of help to you?

Heidi Strickler, MS, RD, CSSD, WILL explain the nitty gritty science of reaching high-level performance on a plant-based diet in this hands-on 90-minute workshop. After gaining an understanding of critical nutrients for vegan athletes, optimal food sources, and nuances of feeding timing and training load, attendees will have the opportunity to create their own “day in the life” meal plan with Heidi’s help. Attendees will also learn:

  • A deeper understanding of key nutrients to focus on when practicing a plant-based diet, why they are important, and in what foods they can be found.
  • How to optimize metabolic efficiency and body composition on a plant-based diet.
  • Practical application of adopting a plant-based diet – with emphasis on why – including meal planning, food prep, training fuel, and recipes.

About the Instructor: Heidi Strickler is a Board Certified Registered Sports Dietitian, Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics, and Metabolic Efficiency Training Specialist based out of Seattle, WA. She provides virtual nutrition coaching for athletes worldwide through her private practice, and also holds office space at Prime Sports Institute in Bellingham, WA. Her specialties include endurance athletes, plant-based eating, female athletes, and metabolic efficiency training. Heidi is a seasoned endurance athlete who loves everything mountains, and races competitively in trail and ultra-distance running. Her own plant-based journey has taken her from carnivore to raw vegan to pescatarian, and everything in between. She truly is the expert in plant-based eating for high-level endurance performance.
