Mirinda Carfrae and Timothy O’Donnell to Headline Fundraiser at NormaTec Supporting #StacyStrong and the Navy Special Operations Foundation
Boston, MA – February 27, 2018 – Sun Multisport Events today announced that Mirinda Carfrae and Timothy O’Donnell, triathlon’s “Fastest Couple”, will headline a fundraiser supporting #StacyStrong and the Navy Special Operations Foundation (NSOF) on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at NormaTec’s brand new headquarters in Watertown, MA. With sponsorship support from Ashworth Awards, ethos, NormaTec and Sun Multisport Events, proceeds from the event will benefit the family of Explosive Ordnance Disposal Chief Kenton Stacy, who was critically wounded during combat operations in Raqqa, Syria in November 2017, and other NSO families that find themselves in similar situations.
Carfrae is a 3x IRONMAN World Champion (2010, 2013, 2014) and an IRONMAN 70.3 world champion (2007). O’Donnell, who graduated with honors from the U.S. Naval Academy, is a 2x IRONMAN Champion, possesses nine IRONMAN 70.3 victories, and has finished in the top 10 of the IRONMAN World Championship in Kona on four occasions. The couple married in 2013 and became proud parents in 2017 with the birth of their first child, Isabelle (“Izzy”) Grace.
The fundraiser will take at NormaTec’s headquarters from 5pm to 7pm and the cost to attend is $10. Attendees will be treated to refreshments, a Q&A with Carfrae and O’Donnell moderated by Mark Walter, President of Sun Multisport Events, and the opportunity to participate in a silent auction featuring gear, apparel, local race entries and more. They will also have an opportunity to enjoy a 2018 NormaTec PULSE Recovery massage in NormaTec’s Recovery Room. Proceeds from the event will benefit the family of EOD Chief Kenton Stacy and other NSO families that find themselves in similar situations. The fundraiser is part of a weekend of appearances featuring Carfrae and O’Donnell that includes keynoting the RACE-MANIA Summit and Expo. At RACE-MANIA the couple will participate in a 1 hour “Meet & Greet” and an hour keynote Q&A moderated by endurance sports legend, Dave McGillivray. A limited number of attendees will also have the opportunity to sign up for a VIP experience which includes participation in the “Shakeout Run with Rinny & TO” powered by the RunWestin concierges.
